A G.703 E1 link is typically, though not necessarily, framed using the G.704 standard which divides the data stream into time slots. Typically, each time slots represents an E0 (64kbit/s) voice channel encoded using pulse-code modulation (PCM). The PCM coding is defined in the G.711 standard. For the majority of gamers, however, the G703 is the perfect option. Simplicity is key, and the no-frills approach to creating a great gaming mouse has paid dividends. That’s true regardless of pairing method. Those of you who abstain from Powerplay and buy the G703 on its own will receive the usual USB dongle. Easy. Those who do opt for Powerplay will have the mouse pad itself as a Lightspeed receiver. The first time you turn on the mouse pad and mouse it’ll pair, and from there you should be good to go. I haven’t noticed any performance difference between the two methods.
