I am afraid to like any lore or history now because i expect to be told "but thats just one view" and have it changed later. Courtney Alameda is a YA horror writer. She has acclaim in that field - she was nominated for the coveted Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel in 2015 - and has also written for Blizzard's Diablo franchise. Ms. Alameda is a fine writer and a good storyteller. Unfortunately Blizzard seems to take a heavy hand with its franchise writers, resulting in somewhat choppy prose in places, and an assumption that the reader is a current player, requiring foreknowledge of events and situations. The characterizations and balance between making dragon protagonists relatable but also very much not human is excellent.

Yep, but what I find most interesting is that when they see the trolls making villages out of straw huts, neltharion mentions that the trolls are more established in the south with civilisations. Much as Vyranoth did not mind this arrangement in theory, trusting the keepers seemed like folly. Tyr had helped the Aspects destroy Galakrond, but beyond this, Vyranoth had no reason to trust his motives. The Titans bestowed extraordinary powers and physical changes upon the five dragon aspects and their followers, the Dragonflights. However, the price for these gifts is the dragons' allegiance and adherence to the will of the Titans. I love this text. Especially the stitch of wondering (because many of us wonder), what audience was Dragonflight targeting?

The author expertly balances the challenge of making dragon protagonists relatable while emphasizing their non-human nature, creating a compelling narrative that draws readers into their world. Trolls had moved north into the dragon isles 20k years ago and had created villages with straw huts. It’s also mentioned that they are more established in the south with civilizations.
