About this deal

Before this Instructable camp wash station, this was the well documented typical food preparation procedure at camp in 10 easy steps. (remember these are young teen scouts learning cooking and cleaning responsibility.)

Whale Tiptoe Standard Mark 4 Pump – GP1309 - Big White Box

Just curious what concerns you might have or precautions that need to take place to ensure safe operation. Thank you very much! October 2017 :One month living full-time in the van! We talk about the water system in our “First Month on the Road” article: faroutride.com/first-month/ While this new wash station can't make campers wash their hands, it can make it easier, and prevent a soaking; all while conserving water.

Analysis and Test Results

Any reason you switched from the braided vinyl tubing you were initially using (as seen in some photos) to the Shurflow Silencer kit? Did the braided vinyl tubing not reduce noise, or did it leak? Just wondering if I should go with the silencer kit or if any old tubing would do. Thanks! Reply Use Aluminum pop-rivets (with washer) to secure these two components through the four drilled holes.

I added this to our camp kitchen and this: http://canvascampers.com/index.php?topic=2418.0 with a few modifications. I am very happy with how it works. If storage is a key factor, then you’ll be tempted by this pump, which is the narrowest here at just 112cm at the chassis and still comes with a large, rubber-covered foot plate. The downside was that the narrow design made the Sealey a little unstable, so it had to be placed on fairly level ground.

The analogue gauge features three scales, but has no target needle, and we found the gauge some way off, reading 4psi off at 25 and 27psi, which really hurt its chances. The pressure increase was 2psi, which seems okay, but three of its test rivals produced half as much again and the Clarke was one of the slowest performers. Washing dishes is what uses the most water. We cook a lot, so we wash a lot of dishes! You might get less grey water than we do. Drill (4) 1/8 inch diameter holes through the Upstanding Rib Wall on the Trimmed Lid and the Basin Side Wall. Drill the holes at North, South, East, West) Slow leaks are the worst because they’re hard to notice and could create damage in the long run… Why did we have a slow leak? The Sea Tech fittings rely on an O-ring that goes on the outside of the PEX tubing (not inside); the surface of the PEX tubing must be scratch and damage free. These fittings are “reusable”, but the action of disconnecting creates scratches on the outside surface of the tubing…

Feed the Spout, and Tubing Assembly down through the Spout Riser pipes and thread the reducer fitting onto the top of the 1/2" Spout Riser Pipe.Note: In the completed basin photos in step 5, notice that the bottom of the basin is concave. To achieve this "bowl shape", the lid was heated in the oven at about 275 degrees F for about 15 minutes to soften the plastic. While hot, it was worked over the bottom of a large glass mixing bowl to impart the concave shape. The removal of the Outer Rim was done after this forming.

Whale GP4618 Babyfoot Pump for Galleys (Manual) - Aquafax

The included nozzle works just like a standard hose head. This may be all you need for cleaning gear, rinsing feet, or de-muddying the dog, but it isn't great for an actual shower. For that, you'll probably want the Yakima RoadShower FlexHead, which we also tested, giving you an efficient (if messily close-to-the-car) shower. Also, if you fill at home and leave the pump behind, you'll find the pressure drops precipitously as the tank empties, and refilling that pressure with a short-hosed bike pump is a challenge. These things aside, this is a fabulous option for weekend warriors or anyone constantly on the go. If you need a larger capacity, the RoadShower also comes in 7 and 10-gallon versions. Whale's manual galley pumps are truly design classics. Since the 1960s these manual pumps have been designed refined and manufactured by our skilled UK based workforce.Self-priming foot pump... I wouldn’t want grey water on my bike to be honest (soap scum or other crap), personally I don’t think it’s worth the trouble and complexity. I’ve seen all kind of recycling-shower systems, and so far I don’t want to get into them! Finding water never really was an issue. Reply Properly washing entailed a trip to the 5 gallon spigotted blue jug propped on the end of the picnic table. The Camplux Pro Series 6L is a reasonably-priced solution for anyone who's always wanted an outdoor shower. This semi-portable unit requires a semi-permanent outdoor setup that includes a secure mount, a large propane tank, a garden hose water inlet line, and two D batteries. Though the initial installation takes time, once ready, this handy little unit instantly converts cold hose water into a range of warm to hot shower temperatures, available at easily adjustable pressures — all finely tuned with two simple knobs. It has a wide shower head that rivals the ones in our bathrooms, three modes that make it just as easy to clean the kids as the dog, and a simple on/off switch right by your hand. The main purpose of the Support Table is to attach the Spout Riser. The Spout Riser is a combination of 1" dia. and 1/2" dia. galvanized pipe sections threaded together and attached to the Support Table.
