The Sinclairs are athletic, tall, and handsome. We are old-money Democrats. Our smiles are wide, our chins square, and our tennis serves aggressive. i liked it anyway, but i think it would have been more fun to gasp in genuine surprise at the path it took. so forget i said anything, forget what the synopsis tells you to do, and just read it like you would any other book. With the help of Johnny, Mirren, and Gat, Cady eventually begins to recall the events leading up to the accident. She learns that years earlier, Ed had proposed to Carrie but that Carrie had refused, fearing that she would lose her inheritance if she married an Indian man. Cady also recalls the anger with which she and the other Liars discussed their plan to destroy Clairmont, the big house on the island that—to them, at least—represented the bigotry and greed that was tearing apart their family. They had decided that without Clairmont and all the valuable possessions inside it, the Sinclair sisters would no longer have anything to feud over. Finally, Cady’s memories of that fateful night return to her: how they forgot to let the dogs out of the house before setting it on fire, how they each took a different part of the house, and how the fire spread more rapidly than they expected, trapping Johnny, Mirren, and Gat in the building, killing them. Families can talk about how family expectations can hurt a teen's sense of self. All parents want the best for their kids, but what's going on in We Were Liars that makes those expectations unbearable? How do the kids react?
I'd really like to discuss this with some readers (hi readers!) because I seem wildly outnumbered as far as my opinion of this book, which was that it was just okay. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a plot that persuades you to wonder. To readers who can accept the bittersweet circumstances of life displayed within their fiction. This is not a character-driven novel. The story shines brighter. I don't think I ever fully connected with any character at all--and the fact that I was moved to tears by the finish is what made this a five-star read for me. And maybe that makes me sound extremely heartless, but I couldn't relate to the main character (no, I'm not even going to tell you her name because I want you to go in blind). But somewhere along the lines, I started to become intrigued with the story because it became this strange, wild thing that I couldn't piece together. This is a book you’ll have to experience for yourself! And I want you all to scream: ”WHAT THE FREAKING HELL!!??” when you finally reach the ending. Haha!This book is the prequel to We Were Liars and contains spoilers. I highly recommend reading We Were Liars before the prequel. HOWEVER, THIS REVIEW WILL AVOID ALL SPOILERS.***

how and why did they let cadence stay in cuddletown in summer seventeen if in reality the three liars are dead!! Pfeff’s flirting with Caroline, giving a romantic first kiss in the moonlight, awakes so many foreign feelings and pure excitement Caroline has never felt before.
