About this deal

For use as a barrier and moisturiser for the symptomatic relief of dermatitis, ichthyosis, eczema, nappy rash, protection of dry skin areas, pruritus and related skin conditions where dry scaly skin is a problem. It can be used as a pre-bathing emollient or as an alternative to soap to alleviate drying effects. Adverse reactions: First choice - Dermol ® 500 Lotion (less greasy than Dermol ® cream). Recommended for aditional use as soap substitute. Grey / Non-Formulary (no formal assessment): APC has not formally reviewed this medicine or indication because it had never been requested for formulary inclusion. Often used for drugs new to market. Other first line options are Epimax ®ointment and Liquid & white soft paraffin ointment (Fifty:50®).

It’s a good idea to use a soap substitute. A small amount of cream is put on the skin and washed off. The skin will feel less dry and irritated with this method. It is possible to use it on the body. Zerobase cream is an emollient, moisturising and protective cream for followup treatment with topical steroids or in spacing such treatment. It may also be used as a diluent for topical steroids.
