Nose: Standard Speyside nose of green pear, apple and vanilla. A slight whiff of smoke adds some depth. No harshness at all. Very mellow, creamy and fruity. Cragganmore distillery is located in Ballindalloch, Speyside. It sits by the River Spey and it’s also near to the Strathspey railway line, both important factors when the distillery location was decided. The distillery takes its name from the mountain in whose shadow it sits.

Cragganmore 12 Details

Palate: Very "smooth" as they say. Definitely grassy, with apple and vanilla the 2 dominant flavors. Again a light whiff of smoke to add balance. Very polite and easy going. 46%abv would really help things here in they way of flavor. The flavors here are quite nice and balanced, they're just weak. The Craggenmore 12 is as every bit as good as any 12 scotch 2 or 3 times it’s price, or for that matter any price. Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. Finish: Short to medium in length and with a very pleasant gentle progressive fade. A touch of cask spicing and barley malts. I was gifted a 20cl bottle of Cragganmore 12 by my brother. He doesn't share my enthusiasm for whisky so I was surprised he went for a 12yo scotch that isn't a household name around here. Cragganmore is part of the Diegeo portfolio, and is an entry level Speyside whisky bottled at 40%. My expectations are not too high but this is new for me so I'm excited to try it.

It stayed in the cooler ‘til the last night and he said “Have at it if you like, I might have some too.”I kept nipping at it now and then when walking by the table and loved the almondy, honey smoothness of it that crept through the smooth burn while I kept it in my mouth before letting it slide down. The stills used in the second distillation (the spirit still) of Cragganmore whisky are unique in having a flat top and being relatively short. The stills' shape has a definite effect on the taste and aroma (nose) of the whisky. [7] Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). Nose: the barley-malt shows sweet and tart citrus; there is also just a hint of grape fruitiness, and very light wood influence. There is no significantly noticeable smoke and only the faintest hint of peat. This nose is straightforward, pleasant, inoffensive, but not remarkable

a b "Whisky.com Cragganmore". Archived from the original on 27 February 2010 . Retrieved 30 September 2009. Finish: for the first year-plus, this would have been quite the continuation of a muted finish of a muted nose and palate. NOW, it continues a very sweet and sour citrusy and fruity-of-grape palate for a medium-long finish. 2 more points for this now, than before,...also

Cragganmore 12 (SR 2019) Details

But to add to the equation, there really isn’t much room for adding any great expense in making scotch – barely, water, barrels, age it…..they all do it bascially the same with the same costs. maybe a sherry barrel instead of a burbon, a little difference in labor cost, but it’s all pretty much the same. That’s not to say all scotch comes out tasting the same – it obviously doesn’t, but we can contribute that to water, processing, years, age, etc. Let’s clear something up right here right now, the is no correlation between price and quality when it come to scotch, and the proof is quite simple. PALATE: Honey and fruit sweetness with hints of smoked nuts and malt. The Cragganmore 12 yo has a medium body and a creamy mouthfeel. Adding water softens the sweetness and brings more spices to the front. Suddenly there are notes of spicy oak and dry orange peel with cloves and pepper.
