noon and night, wet or fine - he simply can't tear himself away from the theatre; and when he takes a holiday he goes to the play!" Somebody remarked that the hotels would be closed if they didn't hurry, and the rest of the Super-master's speech was "cut." I am quite convinced in my own mind that these premiers artistes have either a subway laid on for their especial use, or some indescribable overhead arrangement which quietly drops them in and takes them out, via the roof.

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. Calling on His Name: Spirit of God, thank you for opening for me the Door of salvation that I might come in to faith in Jesus. I know that there is no closed door before me today that You cannot open if it is pleasing to God. I appeal to You, The Doorkeeper, to open doors for serving Jesus and doors of answered prayer. Close the doors in my life against those who come to harass the sheep of God. Amen.Paul and Timothy) passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, after being forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them …. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and pleading with him, and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” When he had seen the vision, we immediately sought to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.”( Acts 16:6-10)

dor'-kep-er (sho`er): The gates of an oriental city and of the temple courts so closely resembled the door of a house that the same Hebrew word was used for doorkeeper and gatekeeper. It is often translated by the less definite word "porter". In the preexilic writings ( 2 Samuel 18:26 2 Kings 7:10, 11) reference is made to porters at the gates of the cities Mahanaim and Samaria. In these early writings there is also mention of a small number of "keepers of the threshold" of the temple, whose duties included the gathering of money from the people for temple purposes, and the care of the sacred vessels ( 2 Kings 12:9; 2 Kings 22:4; 2 Kings 23:4). They held an honorable position ( 2 Kings 25:18), and occupied chambers in the temple ( Jeremiah 35:4). The same term is used to describe officers in the household of the king of Persia ( Esther 2:21; Esther 6:2). It's one of the things about this profession that I never have been able to understand," said the Gentleman who was waiting for the Soubrette. (When you've been a stage door keeper for awhile you soon get to know who's waiting for who.) Most importantly of all, just like his constant companion, the theatre cat (actors being a superstitious lot, almost every theatre kept one), he was the very soul of discretion - hearing the secrets of everyone but divulging none. To the theatrical folk, he was their shoulder to lean on and a friendly ear to tell their troubles to, and when were bad he invariably had some anecdote to tell that would help to cheer them up. Of course he had little time for the performing arts himself, or so he would almost invariably claim, but ask the right question and he could give you chapter and verse about almost any play that had ever been produced in his theatre (and in a very real sense it was 'his' theatre), or at least in his time there.

With metaphors revealing Himself as both The Door and The Good Shepherd, Jesus disclosed that there is a Doorkeeper who opens the way for Him, saying, “he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.” (John 10:2-3) For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners. O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles… Anything with an Earl in it suggests a certain amount of culture," began the Stage-Manager, "which ..."
