About this deal

The pots are typically love – hate. People either prefer them or they dont. Some people, myself included for some paints, decant the pots into dropper bottles. I wouldn’t say I hate the pots, I just prefer droppers. Besides being non-toxic, they are easy to clean up. You can apply acrylic paints with a brush or a sprayer. With a range of options between matte and gloss finish, acrylic modelling paints give you more choices. Included are two paint brushes – size zero rounded and size 2 flat. These will help you apply the paints correctly and get the desired effects. To make things easier for beginners, a detailed guide on how to use these paints is enclosed.

For any beginner or seasoned model painters, this miniature paint kit is the stuff dreams are made of. It consists of a whopping palette of fifty paints for miniatures, along with a detail brush. To make a plastic miniature, two halves of a metal mold are brought together and hot plastic is pressed in between them. Sometimes the plastic seeps out where the two halves of the mold meet, creating unsightly ribbons of plastic called mold lines, and Vallejo offers different “Paint Sets”. They each contain 16 different colors and no extras. The “ Basic Colors Paint Set” contains 16 very basic colors. They are easy to mix and provide you with a good variety to start off. There is no “specific” tone that can only be used in one kind of setting. Any of their silver shade formulations are great. They range from dark silver to very bright. My personal favorites are Gunmetal Grey (darker), Steel (mid tone) and Silver (bright).Painting miniatures is an incredibly relaxing and rewarding hobby, one that can bring a bit of meditative joy to your free time while also adding beautiful bits to your favorite board games and role-playing games. But it can be daunting to build up the skills and tools you need to get started. If you’re toying with the idea of taking up miniature painting as a hobby to de-stress, there are several factors you should keep in mind. Starting from prepping the model to how to keep the brushes clean – these are important considerations for beginners. Read on to find out more. 1. Prepping The Models Due to the high-density pigments in the paints, these provide very good coverage. The paints blend easily and adhere to the object. After that, Browns. Brown shades are used in a ton of thing for miniature painting. Leathers, skin tones, hair, clothes, wood, dirt, and more. So make sure you have a couple of browns or mix the one you have with other colors to get shade variation.

To use sprue nippers correctly, carefully place the nippers with the flat edge touching the surface of the miniature you’d like to clip from the sprue. Then, gently pull the two halves together until the piece comes free. Repeat for every point of connection between the model and the sprue to free the piece entirely. Never twist pieces free from the sprue, as you can severely damage them.

All you need is a soft toothbrush to clean the model properly. Besides the surface, clean the crevices with the toothbrush. 2. Removing Flash And Lines VALUE: Excellent. This is roughly 55% cheaper than Citadel Contrast paints. It’s even cheaper than Vallejo XPress color.

Again, I own a lot of Citadel paints. I highly recommend their paints, washes and especially Contrast Paint line. If you’re on a budget, I only recommend you get very specific targeted paints from Citadel to try. Not a full set. I recommend starting with brush-on paints. There is also painting by airbrush, but that is a technique that takes some time to master. Plus, airbrush paint is often more expensive and there are rarely any good-valued starter kits. You might also want to keep in mind to never use airbrush-paint for hand-painting. It is just too thin and does not provide good enough coverage when applied via brush. The Reaper: Learn to Paint set. This is what I started with and I loved it. Easy to follow instructions, everything you need included from start to finish. It really takes the thinking out of it and gets you 3 finished miniatures. Explore your creative side with these paints on all kinds of media – paper, fabric, wood, or canvas. The consistency of these paints is such that you will find it smooth when you’re painting. The results will vouch for the paint quality. If you want to try out something a little different, the all-metallic paint set might be something for you. It contains eight paint bottles and sixteen (“free”) mixing balls. Army Painter: Mega Paint SetPlease note: we now use a different clear caddy for our paint sets and is different from the one shown in the image. Oil Paints for Miniatures: These are seeing a bit of a resurgence in miniature painting. They are oil based, require mineral spirits or similar to thin down, are a bit more expensive but not much. There is, however, a huge selection of miniature paintbrushes on the market, so knowing which one to go for can be overwhelming for some. Be it the type, the size, or the make (natural or synthetic), it’s good to know your options of the best miniature paint brushes available. Types of miniature paintbrushes Viking Gold is a darker almost brass gold. You can also use this as an undertone, although the set gives you an even darker Necro Gold to use.

The ergonomically designed dropper bottles are excellent in controlling the paint amount. Thus, there’s no scope of paint wastage. Shake the bottles well before use so that there’s no sediment left at the bottom. Made from highly pigmented colors, the outcome is a rich and deep hue on your minis. Rigger (liner): known for its thin, round, and long shape, this brush is good for fluid paint and to create fine continuous lines. CONTAINER: Reaper master series paint come in 1/2 oz (roughly 15 ml) dropper bottles. Perfectly fine, good quality and easy to use. Other sets by Vallejo give you more different colors. There are also the “ Game color sets”. They contain eight different color tones specifically composed for a certain theme. For example, you can get one with browns and greys for wild animals, or one with green and more darker tones for Orcs and Goblins. The pigments in these washes are fine and hence, result in smooth application and outcome. Users recommend washing only certain parts of the model or miniature for emphasis. Others have praised this set for the variety of washes it provides. I used enamels as a kid when I painted miniatures, but that was a long time ago. Now I don’t bother with them with the sole exception of Tamiya Panel Liner, which is FANTASTIC. What Paint Colors are Used Most In Miniature Painting You have painstakingly 3D printed your favorite game characters, wishing to get on with the game you had to abandon earlier. But before you resume, you realize that your new figurines and models need to be painted. Otherwise, how can you enjoy the game when the characters are not in “character”?
