About this deal

Previously only available on higher models, AI Picture Pro and AI Sound Pro are now standard on the OLED48A26LA. AI Picture Pro uses deep-learning algorithms to recognise content, remove noise and optimise the picture. AI Sound Pro leans from more than 17 million audio data points, identifying voices, effects and frequencies. From here, it optimises the sound by genre, giving a more natural sound quality. The LG OLED48C1 is a terrific all-round TV and one that’s easy to recommend to anybody. The Philips 48OLED806 might be better for pure cinematic performance but this LG is more usable and significantly easier to get the best out of.

LG OLED48C24LA | 48 inch OLED 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV

For ultimate detail, in all environments, this LG OLED features Dolby Vision IQ. Dolby Vision IQ version uses data within the signal and light sensors inside the TV to adjust the picture quality for the best contrast. This improves the picture’s brightness, without ‘washing out’ the depth. You get a consistent picture quality, however light or dark your room is. Whether you’re watching a brightly lit sports event or moody movie, Dolby Vision IQ adjusts to suit. It’s equally impressive as we head inside Ego’s craft. The sculpted white curves of the egg-shaped vessel’s interior look wonderfully three-dimensional so long as you don’t get drunk on the punch power that’s available with the contrast enhancer. With Peak Brightness on High and the HDR Tone Mapping filter at work, the picture finds an excellent balance between dynamism and subtlety. The LG OLED C2 is equipped with the latest 9 Gen5 AI processor 4K, which is capable of automatically identifying and optimising the material you're watching for the best possible picture and sound. LG's self-lit OLED TV is the pinnacle of television technology. The screen's pixels are all self-lit, resulting in perfect contrast, 100 percent colour accuracy, and pixel-perfect details for the ultimate viewing experience. You get even more brightness and sharpness with the new OLED evo technology, which has a 9 Gen5 AI processor and Brightness Booster technology for true brilliance in content clarity. Everything is in 4K Ultra HD resolution.

Common Strengths and Weaknesses

That’s all controlled by the brains of the TV, the latest incarnation of LG's Alpha 9 processor, the quad-core Alpha 9 Gen 4. With this new birth comes a few picture and sound upgrades. Object Enhancement is now sophisticated enough to recognise whole bodies as well as faces, animals, cars and other things. Sound can now be upmixed to an Atmos-virtualised 5.1.2. The best solution is, of course, to buy a soundbar or dedicated home cinema system. But you knew that, right? Verdict With its exceptional contrast and rich depth of image, OLED continues to set a standard that’s hard to beat. This LG 48 inch TV is smaller than the more usual 55 or 65 inch LG OLED TV, making it ideal for smaller rooms or simply for a more discreet look in your home.

Cinema Home is the one to go for, though, for the very best that this TV can offer. Fine tune with the sharpness slider and adjust the colour temp to the look you like and you’ve got it all within a matter of minutes. Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) The Alpha 9 Gen 4 does a decent job of upscaling a film that can come across as quite noisy. The filters take care of the worst of that while leaving some impressive skin details in the close-ups. Tom Cruise’s battle-hardened Reacher is complete with pits and scars and everything you’d expect. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits)

It’s possible to get a more consistently impactful feel if you switch off the Dolby Atmos processing, and some more volume too, but the bass isn’t handled brilliantly and tends to muddy those clear waters that LG has worked hard to make pond weed-free this year. Whether watching movies or gaming with HDR10 games, HDR10 Pro intensifies the regular HDR experience. HDR10 Pro automatically adjusts the brightness, enhancing colour and detail for a more vivid picture.

You can access your webOS TV profile via your smartphone with the NFC Magic Tap app. Even better, NFC Magic Tap lets you mirror content from your mobile to the TV – and not just a single TV. You can mirror content from one TV in your home, to another, using the Room To Room Share function. This lets you view cable or satellite content on multiple screens, without the need for additional set-top boxes. Percentage Luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output Interestingly, it’s the preset called ‘Eco’ that gives the fastest access to the right SDR picture. That’s because the viewing is best without too many of the brightness boosters that would otherwise blow out all of the detail. Add in just a small level of the contrast enhancer, modulate just a touch with the contrast slider and you’ll pretty much have it all. I really found it difficult not to fall in love with the LG C2. It’s a fantastic screen, offering high full-field brightness with enviable HDR handling.” ’GamesRadar’ – Editor’s Choice. It’s the gaming features that will doubtless be the biggest draw for many, though. All four of the HDMI 2.1 ports are rated at 40Gbps and are capable of 4K@120Hz, VRR (in all current formats) and ALLM. Input lag, meanwhile, is less than 13ms. eARC is supported, too.
