About this deal

In her magnificent classic Outer Banks, acclaimed New York Times bestselling author Anne Rivers Siddons brilliantly recalls a lost time of hope and dreams—of comradeship, love, secrets, and betrayal—and creates characters brimming with life who will live in the heart forever. After a rough night when John B is feeling the absence of his father and JJ receives his father's abuse, they come up with a plan to go spearfishing. Unable to convince Kiara and Pope to go with them, they head out on their own, only to end up right next to some Tourons, including the intriguing Savannah who does not quite act like the others and challenges them in a bet. After a storm rolls in, Savannah winds up abandoned by her Touron boyfriend and the three must find shelter in an abandoned lighthouse - where smugglers also decide to ride out the storm. In this life-or-death situation, they'll need to use their wits and their plots to survive the night. The setting of the outer banks is intriguing and the reader feels the attraction of the sun and ocean. Soon the reader also begins to feel the compelling and seductive force of the waves and is effect on the lives of those of the shore dwellers. It turns out that underneath all the veneer of friendship and affection lay great ugliness. This book really does make you think. While you're feigning affection to me, can you tell that I'm pretending to like you? At the end, the one true friend is the one who would risk your displeasure and her own life to drag you out of the pretend world you mired yourself in. I loved this book better than Peachtree Road up to 98%. The story theme was about false appearances, people acting on the surface in civilized and splendid fakery, like the elegant dancing of 18th century Baroque minuets. The setting is four middle-aged sorority girls and a reunion at a grand house on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We have Kate Stuart Lee, neither a Lee of Virginia nor offspring of General Stuart. Her boyfriend Paul Sibley, a prostitute's son whose mother took the last name of a construction company her brother worked for, who dumped her to marry the rich Ginger Fowler. Then there's Cece Hart, a girl we never really got to know, and the dumpling Fig Newton who was made fun of and grudgingly accepted.

The supporting characters (Ginger, Fig, Cecie, and Paul) are also spot on. These are not your run of the mill, prefabricated college characters. There’s a lot of detail in this book offering readers an opportunity to learn about what life was really like on the Outer Banks. Netflix has been doing this more often with some of its big original shows. We’ve seen several Stranger Things companion novels and comic books, and it seems to work well establishing the world and giving fans more than what we see from the characters on Netflix. Turns out they aren’t the only adventure-seekers at sea. Soon after they set sail, the friends run into the captivating Savannah, who hitches a ride aboard the HMS Pogue when the weather worsens and her boyfriend leaves her stranded. As a violent storm sets in, the three realize the only place to safely ride out the squall is a creepy, abandoned hotel on the shoals’ lighthouse platform. Or is it abandoned? It doesn’t take long for the three teens to realize they may not be alone. . . . Kate, Cecie, Ginger and Fig were sorority sisters in the 60's. Thirty years later, the group gathers again for a week at Ginger's place at Nag's Head to get caught up and reminisce about old times. All is not as it seems...There are so many Netflix movies and shows based on books. While they are much more difficult to get made, adaptations bring so much to the table. Stories are fully formed, usually, and there’s already a built-in fanbase for the project.

As an instructor at the Peabody Normal College in Nashville, Abby has traveled all over the country with her mentor Graham Wharton, visiting schools and observing teaching methods, while Ben has, after years of sadness and a near-fatal illness, at last found a vocation that suits his varied talents. An idyllic Island setting with beautiful oceanfront homes and a thrilling murder mystery is the perfect recipe for a good book. Alliances are made and secrets are revealed in Bad Things Happen Here, much like in Outer Banks! So, is there an Outer Banks book? Not yet, but we have some pretty good news on that front to share with fans of the Netflix original series. We think, though, that we have a good representation of Outer Banks authors and the stories they tell bringing the history of this ribbon of sand to life. Se avete visto la serie televisiva, oppure se come me non lo avete fatto, Outer Banks potrebbe rivelarsi una lettura senza troppe pretese, godibile e avvincente. The author tripped over her language sometimes. She'd be rolling along then get tangled in a few sentences or vocabulary that didn't feel congruent with her overall style and tone.

Kate who is fighting a battle with cancer is asked to attend a reunion with her three closest college friends, Cecie, Ginger and Fig. Kate is unsure that she wants to return or see these friends again. There was a time when she loved them dearly, but that time is long past and betrayals bridge that gap.Generally, the great battles of the Civil War are not associated with the Outer Banks, but this strip of sand saw plenty of action during the War Between the States. Ben and Abby Whimble have been living apart for five years, with almost no communication between them. There are some intriguing themes around family/found family, friendship, parental relationships, blurry lines between good and bad, the complexity of people, and socioeconomic differences. The friendships and character development in the story really made this into a strong story with characters I wanted to follow more. The romance was an interesting touch, highlighting some of the disparities and the blurry lines in decision-making. While fans of the show may be disappointed by the relatively small roles of Kiara and Pope, but I did think it made the story-telling stronger to focus on JJ and John B, exploring their lives and bond. Captures the richness and complication of female friendships in a way few writers have done. . . incredibly rich characterizations and a profound sense of place.” — Cosmopolitan Murder, wrongly-convicted killers, class differences, summery beach town vibes, the similarities between I Killed Zoe Spanos and OBX go on and on. So take a break from watching fan videos on Youtube and let this book fill the void left behind by Outer Banks.
