About this deal

A Dictionary Of Color Combinations is a collection of flat color squares placed in over 300 side-by-side combinations. I recently stumbled upon a nice color book that is based on the original 6 volume colour dictionary by Haishoku Soukan. Based on his original 6-volume work from the 1930s, this book offers 348 colour combinations, as attractive and sensuous as the books own design. You'll find practical studio tips, insights into the making of the Dinotopia books, and first-hand reports from art schools and museums. There is an index of CYMK Color Codes, lists of where each color was featured, and also has cutout color chips, making it an ideal book for designers who enjoy being inspired by new color combinations.

A Dictionary of Color Combinations” is a comprehensive guide providing inspiration and guidance for designers with a wide range of color palettes and insights into the psychology of color. The book provides a basic understanding of light and colour, and their significance for humans in the spatial context. Derived from the original 6-volume book from the 1930s, this book offers 348 different beautiful color combinations.

It includes both traditional and unconventional color combinations, allowing for creative exploration and experimentation. The downside if you don't read Japanese is that you can't enjoy the beautifully imaginative Japanese colour words. The book is published in Japan and is based on the 6-volume work of kimono designer and teacher Sanzo Wada in the 1930s, a time when Japan was between wars, and was absorbing Western influences. I had a feeling I was missing a lot of the subtle meaning of the book, and I really appreciate the detailed interpretation you shared. A Dictionary of Color Combinations” is a comprehensive guide to color combinations and their harmonious use in various design applications.

In 2010 Seigensha reprinted this classic as A Dictionary of Color Combinations, which was applauded by Die Zeit as a source of inspiration filled with a captivating array of “hues we didn’t even know existed. The concept of "combining colors” was not generally recognized at the time, so, samplers of color combinations containing specific color combination patterns were highly unusual. i wonder if these combinations are related to kasane no irome, the art of colour-layering garments from japan’s heian era. The original 6-volume work Haishoku Soukan (The complete collection of color combinations), from which this booklet is derived, was published from 1933 to 1934. The book features a wide range of color palettes, providing inspiration and guidance for designers and artists. This is a great, tidy reference—I’ve owned it for a couple weeks now and I think I’ll always keep it close for both printmaking and graphic design work (I was pleasantly surprised to find CMYK values for each swatch in the back of this book). From this rich resource, 100 fascinating examples have been selected as the basis for this puzzle book. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Sanzo Wada was active as an artist, art school instructor, costume designer for the movies and the theater, and kimono and fashion designer who employed his extensive and versatile talents to do innovative work that centered primarily on visual perception and form. Due to the fact that it doesn't exist (to my knowledge) I thought it would be great to have an interactive version of this amazing book.
