Looking at it from a historical perspective though, I can see how this became an important text in feminist theory.Brilliant, intriguing and fast-paced … I loved Roman and Beau and I think their story is going to find a lot of hearts! I especially liked the bits about abuse and love being unable to co-exist, as well as hooks' thoughts on how toxic masculinity influences relationships. From the moment I opened its pages, I was captivated by hooks' unwavering passion and intellectual prowess as she fearlessly challenges society's misconceptions surrounding love. The humour throughout lightens Roman’s story whilst also drawing attention to themes such as bullying. It leaves many people wondering why, if it is so easy, they continue to be trapped by feelings of low self-esteem or self hatred.
