While Devan's world is turned upside down, she also learns more about herself and that she is stronger than she realizes.

There are a number of shots of beautiful and recognisable scenery of the capital, and many people who live there may be wondering where it is that the characters live. The story is primarily in the present, but there are flashbacks to her past with her parents and her sister. Rob’s deception is made possible by a gender-transitioning body swap, a plot point impossible not to view in terms of trans identities in 2021 (or in 2017 when the book on which the show is based was published). Even in working class Louise’s affair with her now-rich boss, it’s the same pattern: the poor take from the rich. The timeline is nonlinear and interspersed with diary entry excerpts, but is easy to read and follow.Robert was born in Hull, England, and went to The Juilliard School, a prestigious private performing arts conservatory in New York, after winning a place there at college.
