The recording was transferred into Cubase 5 to optimize the volume (compression) and add a hint of reverb. As well as using the SD-1 as an Overdrive, its transparent tone perfect translate to use as a Booster. You can achieve myriad tones with a Boss SD-1 by varying the values of the resistor and capacitor shown inside the large oval. You can be sure that however much you drop it, kick it, throw it and jump on it, it'll still come back for more. They sound the slightest bit different but this wouldn’t be audible, maybe because there was 30 years age difference between the two.

Also, The BOSS SD-1 is a favorite among metal players to be used as a booster, not a main distortion. The guitars have a vagueness and messiness – there’s a certain cloudiness that creates our perfect environment. Going off the name and the enclosure style, you’d probably guess the BOSS DS-2 Turbo Distortion, but the BOSS pedal has four knobs instead of three, and honestly it doesn't sound anything like this.
