About this deal

And we can find lots of adapters for any system, but maybe there should be an article on the topic, to address the pros and cons for each mount. For me, I owned a z6 and almost all the z lenses this was a no brainer for a small personal camera, and backup.

I love what Nikon is doing with these collapsible lenses like this one and the 24-70/4 S and the 50-250 DX. There are 20 in-camera creative effects for photos and video, and you can add your own twist to all of them. The other is handling, which is most noticeable when you compare it to Sony’s less ergonomic Alpha cameras. The two Z mount DX lenses launched with the camera, the Nikon Z DX 16-50mm VR and the Nikon Z DX 50-250mm VR are both attractive choices for those who want to keep their camera kit small and lightweight, but for those who want more lens options, there are plenty of excellent Z-mount full-frame lenses already available, as well as older Nikon F lenses (both DX and FX) using the FTZ adapter. Although up to 11fps shooting is available, relying on these cards means the buffer tends to fill up fairly quickly. The upgrade frenzy has to run out of puff at some time and probably people will run out of money soon trying to fund it. Until Nikon rolls out high-performance DX lenses that are small and lightweight, it will continue to lose to Fuji and the more mature camera systems out there. Unless otherwise stated, all measurements are performed in conformity with Camera and Imaging Products Association (CIPA) standards or guidelines.

Both the Fuji and the Nikon require a two-step process to change the aperture - on the Fuji to toggle the switch on the lens, and then turn the ring, and on the Nikon to change the mode dial and then use the command dial to change the aperture. It's a system with clearly marked sub-sections and consistent color-coding, which makes it easy to navigate and doesn't demand that you memorize it.The megapixel count being the big difference between my Z50 and the D850 I used isn't always all that relevant. CEWE, one of Europe's leading photo printing providers, announced the winners of its annual CEWE Photo Awards contest, which drew over 500,000 submissions from 147 countries.

These days when most things are being viewed on a tiny phone screen, I feel like megapixel count is even less relevant. Second, although the autofocus system on the Z50 appears to be better on paper, I did not find it to be as accurate at tracking fast-moving subjects as Nikon’s proven 51-point Multi-CAM 3500 II autofocus system on the D7500 (more details on the autofocus performance page of this review).Unlike on some rival cameras, you can’t continue to use the touchscreen while working with the viewfinder, and this can really slow down the process of selecting the appropriate AF point, as you have to work with the much slower directional keys; it’s not the end of the world though. That said, with a lower resolution sensor, plus a lower resolution screen and viewfinder, overall power consumption is likely to be lower.

The battery can be charged using the MH-32 battery charger or it can be charged while in the camera using the EH-73P charging AC adapter. The tilting screen is also great, with the new forward-facing option being helpful for selfies and video recording, though some will be disappointed that you can’t use it easily when the camera is mounted on a tripod. As the physical size of an SD card is also smaller, it helps to keep the overall size of the Z50 to a minimum. Weighing in at just 450g (including battery and memory card), it’s over 200g lighter than the 675g Z6.I wanted a smaller camera to pack on the motorcycle (so the Z7 wouldn't be at risk) so it had to be light, and not too expensive. At 20mm, the eye-point is a little short, which may make it difficult for some glasses wearers to see the extreme corners of the screen, but it's significantly bigger than the one in the D5600, which only managed 0. The review gives an impression that Z50 is not a serious camera and that it is intended to less serious people about photography than those considering the like of canon M6ii and Fujifilm X-T30. On top of that, the 24-70mm f/4 lens for the Z6 will add another 500g to your kit bag, while the 16-50mm f/3.
