PS3, PS4, Wii, Wii U and PC portals are all interchangeable with each other but they can't be used with Xbox or mobile. Xbox 360 and Xbox One systems are known to only work with their own designated portals and cannot use any portals from any other platform at all nor can their portals be used with any other platforms either. This means you can use them with any Skylanders game they are compatible with, regardless of the console you are playing on. When you place an Imaginite Creation Crystal on the Portal of Power, you're given a blank slate Skylander of the crystal's element (for the starter pack, it's fire). The figures often have a metallic look, or a sparkling glitter-like aesthetic added to some portion of them.
Kaos is still an endearing villain even though his goals remain the same, Invader Zim’s voice will always be music to my ears! The SuperChargers portal works with all games except for Trap Team, due to lack of built-in speaker. Skylanders is actually a spin-off series to Spyro the Dragon, one that spun into a toy and video game juggernaut. Also, if you look at the edge of the windows on the sides, you could see the symbols from the first portal.
Many Skylanders refer to the action of being placed on the Portal of Power as "Booming" or "portalling". Imaginators is a decent enough game, I know it got a lot of flack for the microtransactions (it was only a matter of time with this series) but I never felt the need to pay anything extra since you unlock so much stuff throughout the course of the game. If you have any Sensei figures, you can also unlock smaller challenge levels based on the Sensei's element scattered around the game world.The reason is because the original portals could only read up to 4 individual pieces (SWAP Force Skylanders being considered as two separate pieces), and Magic Items are no longer as useful in those games as they were in previous games. However, one of the Ancients, known as Brain, tried to use Mind Magic to brainwash all of Skylands, so the ancients sealed him away, and sealed away the power of Mind Magic so evil could not use it. In Swap Force, the newer portals are still a necessity as these were updated to being able to read more figures at once. In Skylanders Trap Team and later games, they have access to elite abilities, further augmenting their strength in those games. For example, the four Adventure Pack figures from Spyro's Adventure (Dragon's Peak, Darklight Crypt, Ice Cave, and Pirate Ship) each unlock a new stage to play in both Spyro's Adventure and Giants games.
