They’re very flexible and bendy too which allows you to make whatever shapes you want and unleash your creativity! We practiced writing short sentences on marker boards, sticking Squigz to the marker board in between each word to show how much space to leave. This little fish uses a huge suction force to rip apart mollusks, octopuses use suction to grip prey and move around on rocks, and chameleons have a little suction cup at the end of their incredible long tongue to hold on to its food. From heavy work to fine motor skills to visual motor skills and more, the possibilities for these “fun little suckers” are endless!Their bright colours are attractive and they are very tactile so I can see them appealing to people of all ages.
It comes with a few new design styles (including center connecters) and 12 more pieces than the Starter Set for a total of 36.The perfect place for this project is in your bathtub, since you can easily fill it with water, and the walls provide a predetermined length, and anchor, to your bridge.
I do know you can use Squigz to make circles that could be used as targets, create bending towers that you can play a slapping game with, for design silly sticks to bat with. This is a great chance to take a field trip to the library and learn not only about animals that use suction, but also how to find books, talk to librarians and use the library’s catalogue. Doing some of the Squigz science projects above, however, will help answer a lot of potential questions! Our 3 year old grandson especially liked the white Squigz in the starter set that has multiple suction cups and looks like a ball. The fact that Squigz connect through suction opens up a whole slew of fun science porjects you can do with them. I gave a larger set to my 5 year old for her birthday and, to keep the peace, a smaller set to her sister (2 1/2). The clear canister the Squigz come in is a bit flimsy and its lid is difficult for our 3-year-old to take off (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). Rockets, vehicles, buildings, jewelry, even a cushion for the cat - These wiggling critters thrill in working together to build all kinds of amazing things. This is a great way to up the complexity for older kids – great for sequencing, memory, and fine motor skills!
