I’ve had a fondness for quantum physics since reading Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, so I was intrigued by the concept of a prism that reflected light being used to time travel, or as we learn, a way to alternate dimensions. The cinematography is amazing with a lot of shots of the ocean and the wind, it was truly jaw-dropping. As I kept reading, the connections kept adding up from Laura Lynne growing up in the same town as myself, her two first loves names being that of my brothers (characteristics eerily similar as well! The instant I learned my grandfather was gone, I understood precisely why I’d been in such a panic to see him. I already believed these things but I believe them all the more so now and I loved her approach and insight.
The film earns its darkness, but it might have been even more affecting if it didn’t shrink from the light. In The Light Between Us, she shares her remarkable journey and the lessons in love she’s learned along the way. Fueled by her interest for time travel, Thea wishes to further her study of it but is renounced by her professors.
