About this deal

Müllenhoff suspects stanzas 37-41 to have been interpolated, and Edzardi thinks they may have come from the Vafthruthnismol. Snorri closely paraphrases stanzas 37-39, and quotes 40-41. Arvak ("Early Waker") and Alsvith ("All Swift"): the horses of the sun, named also in Sigrdrifumol, 15. According to Snorri: "There was a man called Mundilfari, who had two children; they were so fair and lovely that he called his son Mani and his daughter Sol. The gods were angry at this presumption, and took the children and set them up in heaven; and they bade Sol drive the horses that drew the car of the sun [fp. 100] which the gods had made to light the world from the sparks which flew out of Muspellsheim. The horses were called Alsvith and Arvak, and under their yokes the gods set two bellows to cool them, and in some songs these are called 'the cold iron.'"]

Flanked by two airborne COGs, brandishing a staff tipped with a depiction of the Votann they serve, and wearing gear covered with runic symbols, the Grimnyr encapsulates the Leagues of Votann – their worship of the Ancestors, long-celebrated cultural traditions, and the use of intelligent machines in battle and day-to-day life.Grimnir has many aspects, each one a part of his personality, yet all are distinct from one another. Distinct, even to the extent that the have different appearances, at least according to the fyreslayers who are able to clearly distinguish his many aspects. This is especially important in the case of Battlesmiths who will sometimes choose an aspect of Grimnir to portray when they create their Icon. [7] Since they are privy to the sacred wisdom of the Votann, they are as close to serving the function of priests or religious leaders in League society as the secular Kin get. Equipped with barrier-tech such as Ancestral Ward Staves and accompanied by two energy-focusing CORV robotic assistants, the Grimnyr are able to rouse the fury of the Immaterium against the Kin's foes, much like other intelligent species' psykers. Grimnir drank from the horn. Then the fire got so bad that Grimnirs’ fur burned off. He spoke: 1. You are hot fire! | and too fierce by far: For Slayers, the only stricture of the cult is that all must engage in any combat where the chances of honourable death are favourable, especially against unfavourable odds. Any cowardice in the face of such combat further dishonours and disgraces the Slayer. [1a] Grím seems to be a variant of "Grímnir", which means "masked person". A very apt name for Odin. The closest English equivalent is "grimace", while "grim" (similar meaning in old Norse and modern English) seems to be distantly related, and only appears as a byname of Odin, "Asagrim", in a medieval Swedish ballad. (Note the difference between "Grím" and "Grim").

Valaskjolf ("the Shelf of the Slain"): Othin's home, in which is his watch-tower, Hlithskjolf. Gering identifies this with Valhall, and as that is mentioned in stanza 8, he believes stanza 6 to be an interpolation.] Alarielle • Kragnos • Malerion • Morathi • Nagash • Nerontes Fane • Savage Maiden • Sigmar • Six Smiths ( Ong) • Teclis • Tyrion One or more units from your army can start to perform this action at the end of the Move Units step of your Movement phase if they are within 1" of a Hatchway. This action can be performed by any unit that is not within Engagement Range of any enemy models, even if that unit is being affected by a rule that would normally prevent it from performing actions. The action is completed at the end of your Movement phase if no enemy models are within 1" of that Hatchway. If there are any enemy models within 1" of that Hatchway, your opponent can attempt to prevent the action from being completed. If they do so, roll off with your opponent; each player adds the Strength characteristic of one of their models that is within 1" of that Hatchway to their respective scores. If you win, the action is completed; otherwise, the action fails. If completed, that Hatchway opens (if it was closed) or closes (if it was open). He’s so miserly,’ Frigg replied, ‘that if guests visit him when he is already entertaining, he pretends to welcome them and then has them tortured.’ By comparison, though, more than one Votann has degenerated in recent centuries until they have become little more than Fanes themselves. To witness such a decline is a terrible tragedy to the Kin. Alliances such as the Kapellan League or the disintegrating Balor-Attal Conglomerate endured long Terran years of mourning after their Ancestor Cores suffered this fate. Snorri quotes this list of the Valkyries, concerning whom cf. Voluspo, 31 and note, where a different list of names is given. Hrist: "Shaker." Mist: "Mist." Skeggjold: "Ax-Time." Skogul: "Raging" (?). Hild: "Warrior." Thruth: "Might." Hlok: "Shrieking." Herfjotur: "Host-Fetter." Gol: "Screaming." Geironul: "Spear-Bearer." Randgrith: "Shield-Bearer." Rathgrith: Gering guesses "Plan-Destroyer." Reginleif: "Gods'-Kin." Manuscripts and editions vary greatly in the spelling of these names, and hence in their significance. Beware,’ said Fulla, ‘of a magician who has come to your country and means to lay a spell on you. You will know him in this way: even the fiercest dog will not leap at him.’ Grímnismál ( Old Norse: [ˈɡriːmnesˌmɔːl]; 'The Lay of Grímnir') [1] is one of the mythological poems of the Poetic Edda. It is preserved in the Codex Regius manuscript and the AM 748 I 4to fragment. It is spoken through the voice of Grímnir, one of the many guises of the god Odin. The very name suggests guise, or mask or hood. Through an error, King Geirröth tortured Odin-as-Grímnir, a fatal mistake, since Odin caused him to fall upon his own sword. The poem is written mostly in the ljóðaháttr metre, [2] typical for wisdom verse.
