About this deal

I would say a lot of people have misgivings when it comes to independently produced products from China and I cannot blame them because there are dodgy products being sold throughout the years. There was also some dust in the lens when I got it and after only a few more days a lot more appeared.

Despite the fact that they are two different companies, there are a lot of similarities between the Meike and 7artisans lenses that I own. So that’s that, I feel like it’s a little cheaper than a Rokinon / Samyang lens because their lenses at least go a few months before falling apart. This leaves the 7Artisans 25mm lens as the only option for a cheap lens that functions as a 35mm on an APS-C camera. As you can see in the photos, it’s very compact; it kind of reminds me of older manual lenses, which is actually what drew me to the lens, and made me want to try it in the first place. Purchase, please pay attention to the Canon models: Canon M1, M2, M3, M5, M6, M10 and M100 approximately to small micro single camera, Canon SLR cannot be used to install.

In fact, I don’t even use my M lenses much anymore except with a couple of exceptions like my 75 Lux, and 18 Super Elmar (I’ll be writing up a post with the Lux and SL combo). I was able to get some pretty nice shots that I'm happy with in the 2 years I've had this lens, and I regularly pick it up instead of my 23mm f/2 which I think is telling. I can use this lens with very slow shutter speed of 1/10 or 1/8 of a second hand-held if there’s no way I can use the tripod.

In comparison, my Voigtlander 35mm Nokton Classic lens has an overly sensitive focus ring with a short throw, making fine adjustments difficult to nail. I have bought M4/3 mount lenses from both 7-Artisans and Meike and rate them highly as [1] excellent value for money [2] with image quality exactly as predicted from the lens spec - so by saving on the cost of HD glass and ED elements, AF and OIS I am not surprised that I have to dial up a little bit of Chromatic Aberration correction and that "perfect" distortion correction requires a touch of correction in post-processing.
