About this deal

In Experiment 1, with singers and listeners of North American origin, infant-directed excerpts were identified with a high level of accuracy. We studied it from the perspective of singing development by analyzing a 15-month-old’s imitations of songs. It considers parental views of how listening to and making music can shape the mood and behaviours of their child and their relationship. The analysis of historical context, political influences, educational practiceseducational practices, and belief systems of teachers within Hong Kong’s early childhood education subsystem should provide fertile ground for a thorough understanding of the meaning and implications of global education reform at multiple levels.

Other studies have used ad-hoc questionnaires and/or parental interviews to explore how parents use music at home with children younger than 6 years, either for descriptive purposes [28], [30], [33], [35] or to examine how the parents' previous experience with music can affect current musical engagement with their children [29], [31], [43]. In fact, James was engaged in playing with the toy for 10 minutes and heard the melody that he later imitated played 12 times in quick succession. We observed that the patterns of cue use were strikingly consistent across groups with differing levels of formal musical training. Indeed, the descriptive evidence seems to suggest that the practice of singing to infants and many details of song form are rooted in ancient traditions that have survived industrialization and urbanization. The results showed that the main reason why parents decided to support their children ́s musical education was the perceived benefits that music could bring to their children.

Themes that arose from interviews included the important characteristics of the Singing Medicine vocal tutors; contribution to children’s emotions; contribution to child/family experiences of hospital; contribution to children’s development and learning (including neurodevelopment); spiritual and cultural dimensions; contribution to medical care (including contribution to the wellbeing of health professionals), contextual aspects of the project and contribution to family life, patterns and structures. Recent advances in caregiver-report measures will likely reveal even more about infants' everyday musical activities (Politimou et al. It aimed to apprehend the experience of 13 mothers who gave birth to their first child during the past 18 months, about the meaning of singing to their infants. Reasons for attending MELPs were a high value for music, belief that music supports child development, enriched family relationships, and social support. Paired excerpts from different mothers were then presented to adult listeners, who were required to identify the infant-directed song in each pair.

In Experiment 4, adults were unsuccessful in lullaby identification when the melodies were synthesized to remove residual cues associated with voice quality. The study addresses one of the queries raised by critics of the programme by providing evidence about the backgrounds and home environments of infants who fail the WILSTAAR screening assessment. Pupils who have a playlist have a greater intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to listen to music, and extrinsic motivation to sing. The Chinese identity held by these families informed daily music and language exposure for these young children.
