About this deal

Durostrip Artex Remover will not “wet” the underlying plaster, which minimises the risk of damaging the plaster when removing the softened artex. You need to paint it onto the ceiling - it does fall off so you need to be careful - just work it into the gaps - the deep artex bits will hold the right amount in. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag.

The asbestos removal technique is removing the asbestos Artex with minimal damage to the concrete surface.Biostrip Artex Remover converts the artex to a soft, removable gel that minimises any health risks should the artex contain asbestos. I've used its sister paint-stripping product and have been happy with it, and would like to try this as it has minimal VOCs - good for a house with asthmatics in. While it is possible for you to remove an Artex ceiling yourself, you should not underestimate how difficult and arduous this can be. We applied the X-Tex using a 4-inch emulsion brush but some decorators we know use a plasterers float or a wide scraper to apply a thick layer on the surface.

My concerns are about 3/4 of the way through my dpm sheets fell down and I had to remove the debris like maybe like a m2 total by sweeping and wiping. Not saying that will work in your situation, but if it dries too quickly it just stops working, and the areas I neglected to cling film were much harder to remove. Once done, just wrap the floor covering and artex® into a bag and dispose of at your local council recycling centre. Once considered high fashion, Artex is a textured coating created using combs to form a repeating pattern of swirls, usually found on ceilings. You will also need a sharp scraper - I bought the one from Tool station but it was rubbish so I bought the one from Screwfix which was really good (see photo). If your Artex is cracked it can even be more expensive to repair the cracks than to completely remove it and start over. Formulated by Eco Solutions from the most advanced, patented water-based technology using ” science not solvents”. It is true that removing the "gel" afterwards was an effort but my guess is that it was no more so than using a steamer. This time I was smarter and just took the entire plasterboard off from the ceiling and did almost no scraping (on at the edges to tidy up) - again just make sure the artex has gone soft by giving it a scrape first.

This results in no asbestos fibres becoming airborne and eliminates the risk of breathing in hazardous microfibres which can lead to Asbestosis. This product offers the safe removal of textured coatings such as Artex in various environments as it is non-flammable, non-combustible, and will not burn the skin. we did not want to plaster as there was a thick layer of artex a few layers of paint and we have lovely old picture rails and skirtings which would have disapeared if we skimmed it. Vinyl silk is hard to penetrate with any type of paint remover, so the first recommendation is to lightly score the surface with a blade to let X-Tex penetrate the paint and lift it from underneath. It is always the safer option to use a professional asbestos organisation licensed by the HSE, even where work on asbestos may not require a license. The most difficult of these is vinyl silk which contains plastic polymers, and once softened by any type of paint remover can turn it into a gooey mess!
