About this deal

The CDJ-400 allows you to play your MP3 collection off CD-R/RW discs as well as music from mass storage USB devices, such as USB keys, external hard drives and portable media devices. Designed for DJs by DJs and drawing inspiration from industry-standard CDJ-1000 series, the CDJ-400 is a flexible, affordable performance player for the aspiring club DJ to use at home and club. I shot for 20 years with Technic turntables MK (top), then I worked in parallel with Numark CD AXIS9 for 3 years. Sure you will not be 100% used to all the functionality, but mixing tracks together is DJing and that is standard across all equipment. Pressing the Text Mode button toggles between album, artist and track name, along with bit rate for MP3s.

However, my personal view on these effects is to use them extremely sparingly in a live situation; otherwise they can quickly become tiresome and irritating. The light appears to spin somewhere between 33 and 45 but with the small wheel it feels nothing like vinyl when you pull back under hand. The effects and exciting too, which are 'Bubble, Trans and Wah' when used in the vinyl setting, and 'Jet, Roll and Wah'.

I'm almost getting bored of reporting about the hottest and latest nextlevelness™ getting all cosy with relatively ancient protocols. Its range can be toggled through ±6, ±10, ±16 and ±100% (the latter strangely referred to as WIDE) using the Tempo button, although if you’re using MP3s the WIDE option isn’t available. And whilst they may be the first pair of CDJs I have purchased and owned myself, I think I can give a fair insight as I have used others.People tend to use the digital BPM counter on the display, but this is poor practice in the long term. That said, it’s the best small jog wheel scratcher by some margin that sets a new standard for others to aspire to.

I tested and burned a few CDs and all worked just fine, complete with all CD text and MP3 tags in place. By unchecking this box you will still have advertisements but they may be less interesting :) We are using Google Ad Manager to display part of our ads, or tools integrated to our own CMS for the rest. Pioneer has based the layout of the CDJ-400 on its industry standard front loading CD deck, the CDJ-1000.Aimed at aspiring club DJs to use at home, the Pioneer CDJ-400 will play standard audio CDs as well as MP3s off CD-R/RW discs, but not DVDs. Pioneer made two variants of the CDJ 400, both of which had black finishes along with distinctive blue LED lighting. The CDJ-400 will also act as a USB sound device with both analogue and digital outputs, so you won’t need a separate sound card to connect up to your DJ mixer.
