The book ends on a very hopeful note, and if this is the direction that young people across the world take us all in, then there is hope that we can be a happier, much more peaceful, less divided and divisive world. Amanda Gorman is a national treasure and this is a lovely poem and I could see it inspiring children readers/listeners but it’s Loren Long’s illustrations that really shine in this book. Where this is the grouping, there are opportunities for differentiation within to ensure that the pitch of sessions is appropriate.Loren Long's illustrations are done by hand (also unusual as more and more picture book art is done digitally) using acrylics and colored pencil on illustration board. The illustrations by Loren Long are just beautiful, and, as I've come to love about children's picture books, give another layer of non-verbal storytelling, which is equally as profound as Amanda Gorman's, adding to the ways in which this is the most hopeful book I have read it quite a long time. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. Children will have multiple opportunities to hear the poem being performed as well as performing the poem themselves in a range of different ways.
