About this deal

I have not tried any of the other popular chinese brands but glad you at least got a couple of good performers in there. This was an unplanned purchase but while I was browsing the web a few months ago I came upon these Chinese pens and noticed that brands like Jinhao and Hero have a huge variety of designs. The cap has a large lacquered and domed top button, and a very well designed and sturdy chrome plated pocket clip.

With central and south-east Asia a burgeoning market, Jinhao continue with the region's ability to be as efficient as possible with their technologies, replicating the standards of the European fountain pen and making them accessible to a wide audience. The slit gets awfully narrow as it approaches the tip which could restrict the flow and the pen skates at times which could be another factor. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.It is easily the biggest nib in my collection and the only ones that match it are probably the nibs from a Pelikan M1000 or other such high-end fountain pen. I much prefer the Pilot Prera's snapping action which is incredibly smooth and cushioned but the Jinhao's snap is very definite and gives you plenty of confidence that the cap will stay put. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

I may read up on how the different Jinhao models differ and maybe even pick up a few of the X750s and hold them for giveaways to those I encounter that express an interest in fountain pens. Maybe it's the broad nib or this particular nib or poor quality control in general (though I suspect it's the latter) but I constantly struggled with this pen. Overall, the pen is let down by build quality, but I will say that the dark red with black and what look like gold water spots is genuinely one of my favorite finishes on any fountain pen. This consists of either dipping your pen nib and feed in ink, or forcing ink from the converter down into the feed.

Overall, I think the Jinhao X750 would also make a good first pen for those who just want to get their feet wet with this hobby.
