About this deal

Protect your cards like a Samurai would with our brand-new Katana sleeves! Honoring the tradition of pristine Japanese craftsmanship, these precision-made and extremely durable sleeves are ideal for tournament gameplay. They are fully opaque, great for shuffling and meet the highest standards of players and collectors I have heard the Katana are good but I'm not going to toss my old sleeves to change over even if better as the Eclipse are still outstanding. I've basically always used Perfect Fits for my inner sleeves, and have never had an issue. Outer sleeves in general have more variety in my opinion. I appreciate the durability of Dragon Shield, but I know many who swear by the feel of Katanas. I have only double sleeved with matt dragon shield and matt KMC sleeves with their corresponding perfect fits.

However, you are getting what you pay for. Katanas are well worth the price given their quality and durability. If you have a few extra dollars to spend, these sleeves are the way to go. If you’re new to the game you might wonder why sleeves matter at all, why can’t you just use any brand and type? Quoting the NISEI Organized Play Policies (this had been the same during FFG days, by the way): Sie können ihn unter https://ultimateguard.com/media/2e/0f/f4/1637595001/02_UG_Web_Header_Welcome_02_720p_28.mp4 V i m o z a h r do regular KMC sleeves have that extra space on the top? Because the way that I shuffle it gives me issues as well. I've heard a lot of people recommend the KMC inner sleeves but what are the regular outer sleeves they offer like? It sounds like with the extra space at the top on the dragon shields they may not be for me. Also does Katana make inner sleeves? I'm not familiar with that brand actually! There has been a lot of talk lately about Katana sleeves and how they compare to other sleeves, so I thought I would write this review for the benefit of those who are curious about them.

A new Dynasty of card protection

Difficult to double sleeve – double sleeving seems to be a challenge with top-down perfect fit sleeves. I would advise to either single sleeve with these or use sideloading perfect fit sleeves when double sleeving. When it comes to the way sleeves feel when shuffled, it can be a very subjective thing. We’ll do our best to describe the shuffle feel and give it a score based on our experience with all of the other sleeves we have tested. With this in mind, we believe there are 2 main types of outer sleeve when it comes to shuffle feel - buttery smooth and resistance free.

Ultimate Guard Matte Orange Katana Sleeves Standard Size

This puts the regular Cortex sleeves as one of the easiest to double-sleeve with and the Cortex Matte sleeves as one of the worst we have tested! A stark difference between the two, and with 1 out of every 7 sleeve attempts for the Mattes requiring fixing and fidgeting to succeed, this may be too much of an annoyance for some players. The Katana Sleeves will protect your cards like a Samurai would! Honouring the tradition of pristine Japanese craftsmanship, these precision-made and extremely durable sleeves are ideal for tournament gameplay. They are fully opaque, great for shuffling and meet the highest standards of players and collectors. I have and always will recommend Dragon shields. They last forever, and the inner sleeves protect all 4 sides of your cards. You talked about how you don't like the space above the cards but I think that's the trade off for pretty much the best protection on the market. Across games, countries and time zones, we are working together with a broad selection of renowned players, passionate content creators and successful teams. When I first started (many years ago now), I used a lot of Ultra Pro products, but I personally feel that the quality just isn't there any more. The Regular Cortex sleeves will be exactly what you are looking for if shiny foils and crisp colours are essential to you. Great appearance and as clear as any other glossy outer sleeve. 10/10. KMC may not be as durable/bombproof however I have the absolute confidence that my cards are properly sleeved and will definitely handle my kitchen table/FNM gameplay. I use KMC perfect fits for my internal sleeves and am quite happy with them now for I think like 4+ years. Outer sleeves: I started with KMC and was happy until about 2 years ago there quality dropped off and I switched to the Ultra Pro Eclipse Sleeves and have loved the change over.

Feel free to learn more about the other sleeve types and brands we carry in this Overview blog post ! In this review, we’ll go over the features of Ultimate Guard’s Katana sleeve lineup and analyze how they compare to other card sleeves. The Cortex sleeves are only available in several colours at the time of writing. Not as much variety as other outer sleeves.

Experience a new dynasty of double-sleeving!

Interestingly, the results for this test differed wildly between the Cortex and Cortex Matte sleeves. For the Matte version, it was incredible and quite possibly the toughest seams we have ever tested. Very few splits occurred and only after an unbelievable amount of force being exerted. To test how well the Cortex sleeves double-sleeve, we combined both the Regular and Matte versions with 100 of 7 different inner sleeves. This means a total of 700 ins and outs for each Cortex variant! That is a lot of sleeving and un-sleeving and a lot of information. The condensed results are as follows: The Cortex sleeves are super clear (left & middle), whereas the Cortex Mattes (right) dull the shine and reflections.
